According to the expert committee, the University of Hradec Králové is one of the most promising universities in the country, as it shows active development dynamics. The secret of success is simple: the university administration invites outstanding figures in the professional field to organize seminars and student conferences, provides students with excellent "platforms" for practical training, invests in improving the quality of life, independent study and leisure.
A study conducted by the Employment Department of the Czech Republic showed that only 8.5% of UHK graduates do not find a job within 3 to 3 months after graduation.
Today the university is divided into 4 faculties, with several study programs in Czech:
The University of Hradec Králové is considered a popular and dynamically developing university for a reason. The best proof is the rather serious requirements for admission (including knowledge of Czech language not lower than level B1-B2) and high competition for public institutions.
The following faculties are open for budget enrollment this year:
The Faculty of Philosophy was established on September 1, 2005 as the Faculty of Humanities. Two years later, on December 1, 2007, it was renamed the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Hradec Králové. The Faculty of Philosophy offers study programs in the traditional and in several unique study programs:
At the end of the bachelor's course there is an opportunity to expand knowledge in political science - masters are added specialties on the specifics of African and Latin American political development and legislation. In addition to the above-mentioned specialties, the doctoral program includes a course on the history of the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia.
Admission to the Faculty of Philosophy is not an easy process; in addition to the compulsory testing (depending on the chosen specialization), you will have to prove your knowledge of the national language by submitting a certificate from a language school or passing an exam. The competition is 2 persons for 1 place.
This is a modern faculty that develops promising directions and is closely connected with practice. There are 1800 students studying at the three academic programs of the faculty. The first "official" faculty of the University of Hradec Králové, producing "managers" in various fields: cultural, industrial, financial and tourism. For bachelors, 4 programs are available in the field of:
Master's degree "broadens the horizons", in the courses of applied computer science and information management, postgraduates in addition to the above programs can specialize in the program "Information and knowledge management". Competition 2-2.2 people on the budget, exams depending on the chosen specialty.
The Faculty of Pedagogy is the oldest part of the University of Hradec Králové. A special feature of the studies is the free combination of pedagogical specialties. The mission of the Faculty is to train both teachers and other specialists in the fields of humanities, education, social, technical, physical education and art.
The largest department of the university offers 24 bachelor's degree programs, 34 master's degree programs, and just one "doctoral" degree - information and communication technology in education. Do you think that pedagogy is not a promising direction? The applicants who want to enter this faculty will prove the opposite - the competition of more than 3 people per place testifies to the popularity of the profession.
The youngest faculty of the university trains not only future teachers, but also chemists, toxicologists, physicists, biologists, financial mathematicians and computer scientists. All levels of study are now offered: bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. These new courses, virtually unparalleled, are:
The faculty is a frequent participant of conferences and symposiums, students have the opportunity to work in modern laboratories and take part in scientific research. The competition is relatively small - 1,2-1,4 persons per place.
As the main emphasis is on pedagogical specialties, the University of Hradec Králové has opened a subsidiary structure - the Institute of Social Work, where the most prominent specialists of our time give lectures by invitation:
The Institute is an active participant of Social communication in education, and the "Scholars' Nights" held by the College of Sociology help to "network" between professors and excellent students and to brainstorm developing a new scientific program.
According to the results of the admission committee, the most popular university department in Hradec Králové is the Faculty of Pedagogy. Since September, about 3,000 freshmen have started their studies there. The Faculty of Informatics and Management was the second most popular with applicants, with 1744 new students joining its ranks. The Philosophy Faculty closes the top three with 948 students enrolled in its programs.
As in most public institutions, applicants follow 3 simple steps:
Regardless of which Czech university you apply to, you must have your certificate or diploma nostrified. You can learn more about nostrification in this article.
Czech language exam:
All university programs are based on excellent knowledge of the Czech language, so it's impossible to enter (and then study) without a decent language base. At Prague Education Center's language school, applicants can take Czech language courses as part of a year-long or semester-long program, which will help you get a decent education for free. The main advantages of studying at Prague Education Center are:
That's it?
Knowledge of the Czech language and excellent grades in your education documents are the main steps to admission. However, you will also have to go through the nostrification process. What does this mean? The study program in the Czech Republic is built differently than in the CIS countries, so applicants will have to confirm the education received outside the Czech Republic.
Studying at a university offers a lot of prospects:
The opportunity to find a job abroad without any problems; while studying, to live in a comfortable campus with modern dormitories, libraries, laboratories, sports grounds; the chance to get a double education and get an additional specialty under the program "Erasmus+", studying in institutions of the USA, Switzerland and Great Britain; deep immersion in the reality of the European state, respectively, increasing your own cultural "baggage".
The uniqueness of UHK is its own counseling center, which facilitates the process of employment upon graduation.
Students can count on:
In addition, "aptitude testing" is conducted in accordance with the applicant's personal qualities, which allows you to quickly join a new team and not to experience the difficulties faced by "new recruits" when applying for a prestigious position.
In the campus of the university, located in the urban area of Hradec Králové, there are several dormitories with block-type rooms. The rooms are designed to accommodate 2-3 people each. There are two rooms in a block with a shared bathroom (bath + toilet) and a kitchen. There is 1 laundry room per dormitory, also it is possible to exchange bedding from the castellan, if there is no time or desire to do laundry.
The complex of the campus includes grounds for volleyball, basketball or tennis, so it is easy to choose sports activities to suit your taste.
Meals are varied, besides the student cafeteria there are several cafes and restaurants with different menus at quite loyal prices. The city has excellent bus and train connections, so in your free time it is easy to travel to other Czech cities and enjoy the sights that the country has to offer.
There is also plenty to see in the town itself. These are mainly historical and spiritual values - the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Gothic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Also of historical and cultural value are the White Tower and the Plague Pillar. If you like picturesque places, you can visit the Adrspach Rock Reserve and the rock sculptures "Bethlehem" as a break from your studies.
You won't be bored - the combination of intense workload and active leisure leave no free time for reflection and self-digging. That is why university graduates have no problems with employment: a decent knowledge base + professional guidance and psychological support = a guaranteed job with an income above the national average.
